"Where the Church meets the digital world."
The International Journal of Digital Ministry (IJDM) is a peer-reviewed e-journal that brings together scholars, theologians, church leaders, and ministry practitioners to advance knowledge and practice at the intersection of Christian ministry and digital life.
IJDM focuses specifically on theology as it is done digitally: how the church worships, preaches, disciples, and extends its mission through online and digital platforms. It serves as a critical and constructive space for both academic inquiry and applied ministry reflection.
The journal is international in scope and cross-denominational in perspective, welcoming contributors from across the global Christian tradition.
IJDM publishes across interconnected areas where ministry practice meets digital theology.
Theological and practical examination of digital worship services, virtual sacraments, livestreamed liturgy, and the ecclesiological questions they raise for gathered and dispersed congregations.
The theology and practice of preaching through digital media, including podcasting, video sermons, social media proclamation, and multimodal homiletics.
Critical reflection on what constitutes the church in digital spaces, including online-only congregations, hybrid church models, and digital community formation.
Approaches to Christian formation, catechesis, mentoring, and spiritual direction conducted through digital platforms, apps, and online communities.
Digital missiology including online outreach, social media evangelism, cross-cultural digital mission, and the theology of incarnational presence in virtual contexts.
The practice of pastoral ministry, counselling, crisis support, and care via digital tools, including the ethics and limitations of online pastoral relationships.
Theological engagement with AI tools in ministry practice, including AI-assisted preaching, automated pastoral responses, and ethical frameworks for AI adoption in the church.
Foundational theological reflection on technology, digital anthropology, data ethics, screen culture, and the church's responsibility in digital public life.
Every submission undergoes double-blind peer review, evaluated by qualified scholars and practitioners in the field. Editorial integrity is non-negotiable.
IJDM is cross-denominational and internationally scoped. Your research reaches scholars and practitioners across the global church and academy.
No paywalls. No subscriptions. All published research is freely available to the global church and academy, without exception.
"A rigorous, constructive, and welcoming space for scholars at the frontier of theology and digital life."
IJDM is currently in its pre-launch phase. The journal will invite original research articles, theological reflections, practice reports, case studies, and critical reviews from scholars and practitioners across the global church.
